Wild Rice and Split Pea Soup

My comment in the recipe book next to this recipe is ‘brown and boring’ and that just about sums it up really. I made it in the slow cooker but I don’t think that made much difference as it was the taste and not the texture that was lacking.

I love split peas and wild rice so the combination sounded really interesting but it just turned into tasteless mush together and even the vegetables couldn’t pull it back. I think it was a lack of flavourings that was the problem, it only had parsley and oregano in it and they didn’t really influence the taste that much.

Won’t be making this one again.
