Shepherds Pie


This is based on the lentil shepherds pie recipe from Rose Elliot’s Vegetarian Cookery using Vegemince from Realeat rather than the lentils.

The potatoes were from my vegetable box but the ‘meat’ mixture used up the very last tin of extremely cheap chopped tomatoes that I had in the house! I also added a good lot of worcestershire sauce to give it a bit of a kick and a pinch of a range of herbs from my collection as I don’t have a mixed herbs in there!

Jim started off saying that he didn’t want to eat it and wouldn’t like it and then ate a load and told me the next day how much he liked it! Piggle enjoyed it too, as did my 96 year old Grandmother who had never eaten Vegemince before!
